Share Your Story of Action

So, it’s November 9. Waking up this morning, one year after the election of Donald Trump, I expected to feel flashbacks of the emotions I had last year. We all remember the feelings – shock, disappointment, fear, despair, confusion. Instead, waking up this morning, I felt hopeful.

The power of the resistance movement is stronger than ever. We saw it most evidently on the national stage through the resounding electoral victories in Virginia, New Jersey, Washington, Georgia, and elsewhere. But I see it every day in the faces of the people in my community who have sprung into action to fight for our values in this new reality.

We marched, made calls, knocked on doors, built apps, started action groups, protected our health care, & overturned travel bans. WE are leading change and building the America we hope to see. Over the past 365 days, so many of us have done things we never would have imagined we would be doing – and our country, our communities & our democracy are better for it.

I want to hear your story. What have you done over the past year that you didn’t expect? How has this shaped you?

Recently, I was honored to join five other dynamic local leaders to reflect on this environment one year later. The article, in Chicago Woman Magazine, discusses my journey in deciding to run for Congress & how the spirit of this movement inspired our campaign. Read more about my story here.

I am proud to be running for Congress & fighting for each and every one of you.

Thank you for standing with me over the past year and throughout this journey.

Onward,

Lauren Underwood
